Performance Evaluation
Functional Movement Screens are performed to generate a corrective exercise plan to assist athletes in achieving their goals in a safe and effective manner. You may schedule an evaluation anytime.

One of our primary goals is to improve the efficiency of an athlete’s movements.  An often overlooked aspect is flexibility. Improving flexibility ultimately leads to injury prevention.

An person’s diet cannot be overlooked when it comes to improving health or becoming a better athlete. Nutrition is an important part of the science of Sports Performance.

Dr. Stephen Chavez, Phd, RDN, LDN, CPT

Dr. Chavez is a sports nutritionist, pediatric clinical dietitian, and certified personal trainer. He has a focus in sports nutrition with endurance and weightlifting athletes. As a clinical dietitian, Dr. Chavez has worked with muscle-wasting disorders, eating disorders, food allergies, celiac disease, obesity, failure-to-thrive, and many other nutrition related disorders. He has been working with obesity and taking an all-inclusive approach to weight management. Many of his patients and clients are looking for weight loss, increased lean muscle, and improved sports performance.

Dr. Stephen Chavez earned a PhD co-majoring in Nutrition and Animal Science from the North Carolina State University, M.S. in Animal and Nutritional Sciences from West Virginia University, and B.S. in Animal Bioscience from the Pennsylvania State University. He completed his dietetic workshop through Iowa State University.

In his spare time, Dr. Chavez enjoys any outdoor activities and sports. He is currently training for his next 10-miler after completing a half marathon and several outdoor adventure races in the past several years.

One-on-One Consultations

Each consult is designed specifically to help the individual meet their goals. Before the consultation, each individual will complete a brief summary sheet identifying goals, current habits, and exercise/training routines. Past medical history and current anthropometric measurements should be included. Each individual will complete a 3-day food diary before the initial consultation.

During the consultation, we will discuss the results of your current food pattern with nutrient excesses or insufficiencies. Potential modifications will be discussed that will lead to successfully reaching your overall goals. After the consultation, you will receive a 3-day meal plan with suggestions on modifications and exchanges that will allow you more freedom in maintaining success, along with other listed recommendations. Some consultations will require follow-up meetings to successfully reach your goals. Each consultation can be modified to meet the individual’s goals in the most efficient way possible.

Nutritional Assessment – $125
Nutritional Follow-Up – $90

Group Seminars

Presentations will be designed specifically to improve the goals of the organization. Sports teams may be interested in topics like fueling the athlete for improved performance, hydration to meet performance goals, or keys to weight management for athletes. Organization seminars could include topics like quick and easy meals, how to time exercise and food into your busy day, or “What am I doing wrong? I exercise and eat healthy.” Seminars are 45 minutes long with 15 minutes for questions and comments.
