Libby Woffindin Named New Volleyball Director at Spooky Nook

Libby Woffindin, a familiar face for The Nook Volleyball Academy, has recently been named The Nook’s Volleyball Director. Woffindin has been the Technical Director of the academy for the past year and has been coaching at The Nook since 2014.

Woffindin is excited to begin this new role at The Nook stating she has always wanted to be a director for a volleyball club. “I’m thrilled about this opportunity. This past year, being the technical director, I worked with every single player in our academy. I knew all of them and they all knew me, which was a pretty incredible experience,” she stated.

She also added, “Developing young athletes into thriving adults through volleyball is my ultimate goal. I wish to make every single athlete that walks into The Nook for volleyball a better individual when they leave. It isn’t just about the wins and losses; I want to instill traits and values that will be with these young athletes forever.”

Along with her strong passion as a director, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the program. Woffindin has been playing volleyball since she was 11 years old and comes from an active volleyball family. “One of my older sisters played through college and still plays and coaches. My younger brother now plays for St. Francis University,” Woffindin stated.

She played for her high school team and for the Philadelphia Volleyball Academy (PVA). At the collegiate level, Woffindin was a four year starter as a middle blocker at Shippensburg University from 2008-2011, was twice named to the All-PSAC Eastern Division Second Team 2010-2011, and was a PSAC Player of the Week in 2011.

In her career, she had 273 career block assists (at that time a school record) in addition to 340 total blocks, 122 career aces, and 971 kills (a 7th all-time in Shippensburg history). As a junior in 2010, she set the Shippensburg University single-season record for block assists with 118.

Volleyball is still something Woffindin continues to participate in. “I now compete in adult tournaments and open level grass tournaments during the summer months,” Woffindin stated.

In addition to her playing experience on the court, Woffindin has extensive coaching experience. She coached at Revolution Volleyball Club for three seasons during college. After college graduation in 2012, she began coaching boys’ volleyball for Club Lehigh in Allentown, PA. Woffindin also coached girls at PVA and Synergy before starting her coaching career at The Nook. “Coaching at The Nook is remarkable. It truly feels like a family and there’s really no limit to what we can do here at The Nook. That’s why I love it,” she stated.

This season, she is ready to demonstrate why The Nook Volleyball Academy differentiates itself from others in the area. “There are many different options for club volleyball. Here at The Nook, we are focused on building our character and rebuilding our academy. We are looking beyond the game. We will strive for excellence in our training, on and off the court. We want our athletes to succeed in all aspects, and we are prepared to work to get them there,” Woffindin stated.

There will also be plenty of added benefits to joining the Nook Volleyball Academy this season. “We will be adding a recruiting advisor to our staff, Randall Kreider, who will work with athletes and their parents to advise and support their dreams of playing in college. We will have monthly mental training, team-building, and character-building, and sports performance training; which gets our athletes playing at peak performance.  We want to offer a full package at The Nook and are putting together a well-rounded program that will make these athletes not only better volleyball players, but better human beings,” she stated.
