Spooky Nook Sports is excited to announce that Todd Garber will be the Director of Coaching in the Nook Softball Academy for the 2015-2016 season. Todd is currently the 18U Gold coach (previously PA Shooting Stars Gold) and will continue as such in 2016. This is Todd’s sixth year coaching travel softball and his second year at Spooky Nook Sports. Todd was the head coach of the 16A Nook Black College Showcase team last year, which finished the year with an overall record of 47-11-2, winning four tournaments and receiving runner-up honors at PONY Nationals in Sterling, VA. Todd has also had quick success with the Nook Gold team, winning the Sellersville Belles 18th Annual Fall Classic tournament this fall and finishing as runner up in the Spooky Nook Dome tournament this winter.
Todd lives in Willow Street, PA, with his wife Diana and three daughters, Brianna, Hanna, and Julianna. He teaches Technology Education at Lampeter-Strasburg High School. Prior to coaching softball, Todd coached baseball for 20 years at Lampeter-Strasburg High School, which included two state championship teams. Todd has helped guide 43 L-S players to compete at the college level and four to play professionally. Todd played four years of baseball at Millersville University and coached college baseball at Millersville University and Franklin & Marshall College. Todd is also currently an associate scout for the Cincinnati Reds organization.
In his new role as the Nook Softball Director of Coaching, Todd will continue to coach the 18U Gold team, but will have added responsibilities that will help share his knowledge and experience across the entire Nook Softball program. Working closely with Spooky Nook Director of Softball, Christina Aulbach, Todd’s added duties will include assisting with academy coaching selection, curriculum development across all age levels, and most importantly coaching the staff of academy coaches through regular meetings and clinic style sessions.
This new position will provide added structure to the Nook Softball academy program and will create many opportunities for our athletes in the future. Our goal is for Nook Softball athletes to become versatile softball players who can easily transition into the next level of their game, whether that is playing for a top high school program or making the commitment to college athletics. With Todd’s leadership, an added focus will be placed on care for the player, both physically and mentally. This will be achieved through specific practice and development techniques for arm care and the mental game. Todd’s knowledge of the game and how to coach the game will be invaluable to the athletes who will train and develop in the Nook Softball program. We are honored to have such a great resource on our staff and we are excited for what the future holds for our teams.
