Gaining the motivation to hit the gym on a consistent basis is tough, but what do you do when you finally get there and feel lost? You might get tired of your routine, feel burnt out after half an hour, or feel awkward exercising alone. There's a perfect solution to all these issues - group fitness classes!

Walking into a new workout class full of unfamiliar people an exercises can be daunting, but the positive impacts these classes can have on your health should make it worth the risk.

Physical Benefits of Group Fitness

If you're working out, chances are you want to see some physical changes in your body. Using similar equipment and tools to a standard workout, group fitness classes provide a fast-paced and energetic workout that can help you see results quickly.

Health professionals advise that adults should get 75 minutes of active exercise each week. If you participate in just one group fitness class each week, you can achieve this goal in only TWO workouts! Reaching the required amount of exercise will help reduce health risks, including heart disease, diabetes, and a stroke.

When you workout with a group, you are more likely to achieve your weight loss goals. One study found that 95% of people who started a weight-loss program with friends completed their program, while only 76% completed it alone. The friend group was also 42% more likely to maintain the weight loss. Group settings can lead to a positive competitiveness in a workout, as the people around you can inspire you to push yourself harder than you would on you own.

Mental Benefits of Group Fitness

Working out with a group can lower one's stress by 26% and significantly improve the quality of life compared to those who exercise alone. Exercise already releases endorphins that help elevate your mood, but adding the social element of group exercise gives you a feeling of social connectedness.

We give so much time and attention to so many other people and areas in our lives, it is such a relief to simply show up to a group fitness class where all the thinking is done for you! You'll experience better sleep, increased energy, and stamina. Group fitness creates companionship, community, and helps those working out to never feel alone. The encouragement and accountability help to keep people motivated and on track, makes classes and gym experiences less intimidating and more fun.
