We will be officially OPENING SUMMER CAMPS EFFECTIVE JUNE 8th, per the guidance issued from the state and the Department of Health! This is dependent on Governor Wolf moving Lancaster County to the yellow phase as of June 5.
Our team has been hard at work developing a plan to safely run camps this year. We do, however, ask for your patience during the first few weeks as this is a learning experience for all of us.
We know you have a lot more questions, so we've put together a comprehensive set of guidelines and changes that include things like:
- Refund Policy & Payment Plans
- Contact-free drop-off and pick-up procedures
- Temperature checks of all staff and children upon arrival.
- CDC health and safety reminders
You can view our full guidelines HERE. Our goal is to continue to monitor and adjust these protocols appropriately and safely throughout the course of the summer as state and federal guidelines are revised.
We also know these protocols are new and different. It's a lot for all of us to take in. If for any reason you're not comfortable with these guidelines, we hope to see you back at future camps.
REFUNDS FOR CURRENTLY ENROLLED CAMPERS: As of this email (May 27, 2020), currently enrolled camp families have five (5) days to request a refund if they wish to unenroll from camp. Past 11:59pm on Monday, June 1, no refunds will be given for those campers. If you wish to cancel your camp enrollment during these five days, email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will begin the refund process.
Additionally, we have updated our waiver to include information regarding COVID-19. Even if you have previously signed a waiver for us at any point, we will need all participants to do so again. You can find them below or on our website:

Due to the anticipated high volume of inquiries, please reference the above materials before reaching out with additional questions.

We are still waiting on Governor Wolf to provide guidance for summer day camps. We have every intention of running camps appropriately once we receive this guidance.
If we have to cancel a camp, you can receive a full refund or transfer the amount paid to a week later in the camp season.
For customers that chose the Payment Plan option during registration, payment for the first week of camp (June 8th) has been postponed until June 3rd.
- Operate under reduced staff-to-child ratios.
- Implement maximum group size limitations.
- Temperature checks of all staff, children, and adults upon arrival.
- Increased handwashing procedures.
- Intensify cleaning and disinfection.
- Where feasible, adjust activities and procedures to limit sharing of items such as toys, belongings, supplies, and equipment.
We will share our full plan with all campers once we receive The Commonwealth’s guidelines.

The Spooky Nook building has been quiet for too long – we miss you!
As Governor Wolf begins to permit businesses to reopen, he has indicated he will allow our complex to reopen in the third phase. We are extending the postponement of all sports-related activities with the expectation of resuming programming in the third phase.
Governor Wolf has indicated he will allow fitness centers, under state guidelines, to reopen in the third phase. This could delay our fitness center reopening until June. We would like him to follow federal guidelines that allow fitness centers to open in phase one of the reopening process.
We support a safe reopening of Spooky Nook fitness centers, because we know the cleaning regimen by our staff and members, which includes wiping down every piece of equipment every time it is used, will continue to provide a safe environment for our members. We are prepared to support appropriate screening (temperature and symptoms, and social distancing) to maintain a safe and healthy environment. Surely, under these conditions, this is an environment at least as safe – probably safer – than a grocery store, convenience store, or big box home improvement center.
Governor Wolf seems to be adjusting his approach to allowing reopening by some businesses based on feedback from those affected by his decisions. If you support an earlier reopening, I encourage you to contact the Governor’s office by email AND by phone. Your voice will make a difference. Telephone and email contact information is linked below.
Thanks for your support and consideration,
COO, Spooky Nook Sports

Based on the Governor’s business close order issued on March 19th, we were optimistic that we could reopen on March 30th. Because this order does not have a set duration and no additional timeline or guidelines have been received, we are updating our closure to align with the start of our sports-related programming which is set to begin April 7th. This date may continue to change as guidelines are updated.
Our hotel continues to remain open as an essential business.

In response to the current situation surrounding COVID-19, all sports-related programming at Spooky Nook will be postponed for the next two weeks.
We’re currently living through a very fluid situation that changes hourly. We have many areas that make up Spooky Nook Sports and we have taken steps to postpone portions of our business. While we did make the decision regarding sports-related programming, our hotel and restaurant are remaining open until we receive further state and federal guidance.
We appreciate your patience while we navigate the ever-evolving details of this situation. We will continue to provide updates regarding the operations of our facility as we have them.
