by Spooky Nook Sports on August 11, 2015

Lancaster, Pa – Spooky Nook Sports is excited to announce the launch of Nook Cheerleading. Nook Cheer offers athletes, ages 6 to 18, beginner & tumbling classes, flier & stretch classes, stunt camps & clinics, recreational & all-star competitions, and a competitive All-Star cheer program, Nook All-Star Cheer Academy. Nook All-Star Cheer Academy will also offer a Special Needs program. Registration for this particular program will open in September of this year. In addition to various programming, athletes will benefit from training & conditioning designed by Nook Sports Performance.

Beginner classes will be available to introduce new athletes to the sport. Classes will include the basic fundamentals for motions and jumps. Stunt camps and clinics will be offered throughout the season by Nook Cheer staff as well as guest organizations. The first stunt clinic will be provided by “The Cheerleader Magazine” on August 18th from 2pm to 6pm. The competition schedule will be local with no overnight competitions.

Every athlete will be placed on a team. Teams will depend on age, skill level, and skill performance at the coach’s discretion.

Cheerleading Director, Brandy Houser, is excited to bring cheerleading to the Nook. Houser states, “The resources available at the Nook will help take our athletes to a new level of performance. Combining the Nook with the knowledge and experience of our coaches is going to create some amazing teams. The potential for athletes involved in Nook Cheer is just incredible. I am beyond excited for what this will do for the girls and the sport of cheerleading. Cheerleading is a very demanding sport and whether it’s tumbling, dance or stunts, our athletes will be in top physical condition.”

Houser has over 15 years of coaching experience including school, recreational, all-star and semi-pro. As a competitive coach she has won 10 national champion jackets, and a multitude of national titles including US Finals, and has coached an overall US Finals championship team. The Nook Cheer coaching staff will also include Michelle Sheirer, who brings over 20 years of recreational, Junior High, Varsity, All-star, Semi Pro Cheer and All-Star Dance team coaching experience. Tumbling Coach, Michaela Newcomer has coached world ranked gymnasts, and her athletes have won countless individual local, state, and world medals. She also has over 10 years of cheerleading experience along with over 15 years of competitive acrobatics and dance. Houser, Sheirer, and Newcomer, will also be joined by Brittany Obetz and assistant Janette Stoppard.

Nook Cheer staff combines over 30 years of coaching experience, with victories at the school level, national titles/jackets at the recreational and all-star levels, as well as national titles/jackets in dance. We provide tumbling instruction by a USAIGC certified gymnastics instructor, who has coached nationally ranked teams.

The Nook Cheer program began practice on Sunday, August 30th. Houser states, “Our goal is to provide an affordable program that gives our athletes all the tools they need, productive practices without an excessive time commitment, and allows balance in our athlete’s lives.”

Evaluation Dates: August 19th from 6pm-8pm & August 23rd from 4pm-6pm
