An Interview with an Olympian

by Spooky Nook Sports on January 22, 2015

In September, two-time Olympian and current USA Field Hockey player Katelyn “Falgo” Falgowski joined Spook Nook Field Hockey as Technical Director. As the New Year rings in, The Nook and Falgo have new goals to grow the game at the Home of Hockey and to encourage girls to pursue their dreams.

In a recent interview with The Nook, Falgo reflected, “I remember my first indoor practice when I was in 5th grade, my coach almost made me cry because I couldn't ‘squish the bug’ properly on my push passes. Thankfully I didn't give up and each week I got a little better. I wasn't very good when I began, but I didn't give up. With a little hard work and dedication anything is possible!”

Spooky Nook: What did you want to be when you were growing up?
FALGO: A doctor and a mommy.

SN: Other than being a field hockey super star, do you have any hidden talents?
FALGO: I've been told I cook a pretty mean hazelnut brussels sprouts pasta dish.

SN: Pirates or ninjas?
FALGO: Ooh, tough one! Ninjas are awesome and fast, but who doesn't love trying to talk like a pirate.

SN: What is your least favorite household chore?
FALGO: Taking out the trash, yuck!

SN: What is your favorite meal?
FALGO: Anything seafood, but cheese is a close second.

SN: What is your favorite color?
FALGO: I love all shades of blue.

SN: What is the best part about being on the Women's National Team?
FALGO: Being able to do what I love with my friends every day.
